Biometric Reader
A kiosk peripheral that uses fingerprint, iris, or facial recognition for identity verification.
Biometric readers verify patient identity using unique biological characteristics. In Malaysian healthcare, fingerprint readers are the most common biometric (consistent with MyKad biometric data) followed by facial recognition cameras. Biometric check-in is preferred for elderly patients who may struggle with touchscreen interfaces. MOVO-X supports fingerprint (Suprema BioMini) and camera-based facial recognition integrations, with all biometric data processed on-device and never stored in MOVO-X databases (PDPA compliance).
Malaysian Context
PDPA 2010 classifies biometric data as sensitive personal data. Explicit written consent and specific regulatory compliance is required before collecting it.
