MyKad NFC
The contactless NFC chip in MyKad that stores identity data readable by ISO/IEC 14443 readers.
The MyKad NFC interface follows ISO/IEC 14443 Type B standard, operating at 13.56 MHz. The embedded chip stores personal data (name, IC number, DOB, gender, citizenship status, address) in a proprietary file structure accessible via APDU (Application Protocol Data Unit) commands. MOVO-X kiosks use the ACR122U or compatible reader to extract this data in under 0.5 seconds. No PIN or authentication is required for basic demographics — they are in the publicly readable zone of the chip.
Malaysian Context
The MyKad NFC specification is maintained by JPN (National Registration Department) and published in the MyKad Technical Specification document. MOVO-X's MyKad reader driver is certified against the latest specification.
