NFC Reader
A near-field communication reader that extracts patient data from a MyKad chip.
An NFC (Near-Field Communication) reader is an ISO/IEC 14443 compliant contactless smart card reader that reads the embedded chip in Malaysian MyKad identity cards. The reader communicates at 13.56 MHz, reads the chip at 10–15 cm range, and extracts the patient's full name, IC number, date of birth, address, and nationality using APDU command sequences. MOVO-X kiosks use the ACR122U or HID Omnikey 5422 reader modules for MyKad NFC check-in.
Malaysian Context
All Malaysian citizens and permanent residents carry a MyKad with an NFC chip (since 2001). MyKad NFC is the fastest and most accurate identity verification method for Malaysian hospital check-in.
