Emergency Department (ED/A&E)
The hospital unit providing immediate care for acute and life-threatening conditions.
The Emergency Department (ED), also called Accident & Emergency (A&E) in Malaysia, provides 24/7 care for urgent medical conditions. ED queue management differs fundamentally from OPD — patients are triaged by clinical acuity (P1–P5 levels) rather than arrival order. MOVO-X ED module supports acuity-based resequencing, real-time bed availability display, and ESI/MTS triage protocol integration. Walk-in registration via kiosk is supported but clinical triage always overrides queue order.
Malaysian Context
Malaysian A&E departments are classified into Level 1 (full services) and Level 2 (limited). All Level 1 A&Es are required to implement triage systems per MOH Clinical Practice Guidelines.
