HL7 v2.5
HL7 version 2.5 — the pipe-delimited messaging standard widely used in legacy Malaysian HIS.
HL7 version 2 is the older (1980s–2000s era) messaging standard for healthcare system integration, using pipe-delimited text messages (e.g., ADT^A04 for patient registration). Despite being superseded by FHIR, HL7 v2.5 remains dominant in Malaysian hospital HIS integrations because most installed systems (KCIS, TrakCare 2010-era, iClinicsys) use it. MOVO-X supports HL7 v2.5 via a MLLP (Minimal Lower Layer Protocol) adapter running alongside the FHIR R4 server.
Malaysian Context
The KPJ KCIS HIS uses HL7 v2.5 ADT and SIU message types for patient registration and appointment management. MOVO-X's KCIS integration adapter was built and tested against live KCIS instances in 2026.
